Alfred and Schaum methods; Scales and Chords books
Alfred Basic and Premier Course
From beginners to level six, I use the Alfred Piano lesson, Theory, and Solo books along with the Schaum Fingerpower technique books. Scales are introduced through the use of my own Scales and Chords books, which provide a unique leveled approach to learning scales. Beyond level six we explore technique through Hanon, Czerny, and individual graded pieces.
Piano Parties
Twice a year in May and October I have a piano party at my house. Each student prepares a piece to play with refreshments served afterward. The May recital is more like a traditional recital with semi formal dress. The October party is informal, and is in character a Halloween celebration.
